Owen Coyle insists he is ready to take Bolton to the next level despite reported interest in his coveted stars.
The Scot believes the summer will be 'intriguing' but is adamant that he will not have to spend big money to build a competitive team.
However, Coyle admits it will be a tough task keeping £20million-rated England defender Gary Cahill at the Reebok Stadium.
He told the Daily Mail: "Gary is good enough to play in any side in world football and he is going to get better.
"He has everything. He has pace, power and his feet belong to a centre-forward.
"He will outgrow this club and when those big clubs come asking, our decision, and price, will have to reflect what we need to move forward without him.
"But we've shown we don't have to spend big to build a team or be competitive."
Coyle is excited about Sunday's FA Cup semi-final at Wembley and his focus is firmly on victory against Stoke.
He said: "At the levels we operate in, the best league in the world, you don't always get more than one chance at these sort of games.
"I want my players to be ready - and I mean ready.
"It's a great occasion at the best stadium in the world but you only enjoy it if you win it.
"If you come off the pitch and think 'you know what? I couldn't do any more', then you'll sleep well at night."
