Good news for struggling Wolves as duo make progress

Midfielder Stephen Hunt has resumed full training with Wolves less than a fortnight after undergoing a hernia operation. In a further fitness boost for Mick McCarthy's side, key striker Kevin Doyle has started light training and has not been ruled out of returning before the end of the season from a knee ligament problem. Hunt's first campaign at Molineux has been plagued by injury, but the 29-year-old could play some part in the run-in as Wolves bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League. McCarthy said: "Remarkably, 'Hunty' is back in full training although he's not fully fit yet. "It's incredible how quickly they turn these hernias around and he's doing OK. "He's got a bit of scar tissue, and, like any operation, there's some form of discomfort. But it's not the hernia now, it's just from the surgery. "It's been a stop-start season for 'Hunty' because he's had more injuries than he, or we, would have liked. He just needs more training now."

Progress

Doyle picked up his injury while on duty for the Republic of Ireland during the last international break. "Kevin was out running today but, with a medial ligament, running is one thing and kicking and tackling is another," added McCarthy. "I'm not writing anyone off. We'll see how he is." Meanwhile, full-back George Elokobi will miss the next three games with a hamstring injury suffered in training last week. McCarthy said: "George is not as bad as we first thought but he won't play any of these next three games. "I don't know how long it's going to be - but he's responded well."
