Newcastle defender Danny Simpson is adamant the referee got it right after denying Manchester United a late penalty at St James' Park.
The Magpies managed to snatch a point on Tuesday night after their clash with the Premier League leaders ended in a goalless draw.
But there was late controversy in the second minute of stoppage time when Simpson appeared to bring down Javier Hernandez in the box, prompting a penalty shout from the visitors.
Instead the United striker was booked for simulation by referee Lee Probert, and Simpson agrees with the official's call.
"To be honest, I didn't feel like I touched him, maybe he went over too soft," Simpson told Sky Sports HD1.
"I'll have to look at the tapes, but I'm glad the referee gave it my way."
Asked if Probert got the decision right, former United right-back Simpson said: "I didn't feel (contact) at the time.
"I'm glad the referee made the right decision and the lads got a point having worked so hard."
