Bristol City will be without Nicky Maynard for the remainder of the Championship season following his sending-off against Sheffield United
The striker was sent off in the 42nd minute of Saturday's 3-2 defeat to The Blades and, thus, will be suspended for the remainder of the campaign.
That sending off - for a two-footed tackle - was the first of Maynard's career and the former Crewe man is devastated after a disappointing season, which he missed the majority of through a knee injury, ended in such circumstances.
Maynard was eager to help The Robins finish on a high, although his absence is good news for Nottingham Forest as they will not face the striker on Monday as they attempt to cement their play-off spot.
"I feel disappointed in myself and upset for the fans. Hopefully the team can push on from Monday against Forest," he said.
"It didn't dawn on me until I was in the dressing room that my season was over. I kept thinking we had four games left and I'd be back for the last game but then I realised."
Meanwhile, Louis Carey, who has been sidelined since fracturing his skull against Scunthorpe at the end of February, may return to the fold.
