Toffees defender keen to end barren run

Everton defender Tony Hibbert believes it is time the Merseysiders ended their 16-year trophy drought. The Toffees have failed to add any more silverware to their cabinet since winning the 1995 FA Cup against Manchester United. Everton have been consistent performers under David Moyes in recent seasons, although the club have failed to secure any material reward. Hibbert believes Everton are a big enough club with plenty of strength in depth to challenge for honours

"Whatever cup it is, we need one next season," commented Hibbert. "Everton need silverware - the sooner the better. "Europe is a great achievement for any club, and it's a great experience for the fans to get away to talk about and sing about. "I think the squad is big enough for Europe. We've got some good players in depth. We've got a lot of injuries again which doesn't help but there is quality there. "I think the squad we've got is capable of challenging in the domestic cups and Europe."
