Sheffield United expect Ched Evans to be fit for pre-season after scans confirmed the striker has not fractured his ankle.
Evans was hurt during the Blades' 2-2 draw at home to Barnsley on Saturday which condemned the club to relegation from the Championship.
He was carried off after coming on as a substitute at Bramall Lane and there were fears the Wales international had suffered a break.
However, X-rays have shown up ligament damage and Blades boss Micky Adams is confident Evans will be fit for the start of pre-season training.
Adams told the club's official website: "It is not as bad as first thought and, although there is ankle ligament damage, he will be ready to start pre-season on time."
Evans, who was a £3million signing from Manchester City in 2009, has scored nine goals in the Championship during a disastrous season for the Blades.
