Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is sceptical about a deal being reached for Schalke keeper Manuel Neuer this summer.
The Bavarian giants have made their first offer for the Germany No.1, but it is believed to be little over half of Schalke's required fee.
Rummenigge fears a lengthy, drawn-out process and doubts whether an agreement can even be reached, meaning the club could well turn their attention elsewhere.
However, Bayern's supremo is not giving up hope of securing Schalke's shot-stopper, although reports are hinting Mainz goalkeeper Heinz Muller could be targeted if they miss out on his signature.
"We will definitely be signing a new goalkeeper," he told the Bild newspaper.
"I don't really think we are going to find a quick agreement (for Neuer).
"And I am also not convinced that Bayern and Schalke will find a price which suits them both.
"We will have to wait and see - the transfer window is still open for four more months."
