Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann could surprise his critics by extending his playing career by another season.
The former Germany international retired at the end of last season, but was persuaded to re-join the Gunners in March after they suffered an injury crisis.
Lehmann accepted Arsene Wenger's offer to return and, despite only playing once since signing a short-term contract, he could play on for an extra year.
The 41-year-old told Bild: "It was not really a comeback, but more of a last resort - actually more of a hobby.
"I took three weeks to get really fit - and then I had to play against Blackpool.
"I thought, 'you can do it still. It is not forgotten'.
"From my performance I would be able to continue playing. My team-mates are always asking me if I'll still be here next season."
But even if he decides to retire for a second time the former Schalke, Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart shot-stopper could remain in English football if and when he completes coaching badges.
"I can very well imagine a job in football. First, I'll probably end my trainer course," he said.
"When you have such personalities as Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United and Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, this (England) is the ideal solution."
