Black Cats boss not ruling out bargain basement for fresh faces

Steve Bruce has confirmed Sunderland will be looking at Bosman signings as the club aims to strengthen over the summer. The Black Cats endured a mixed campaign having suffered a slump in the second half of the season only to finish brightly. The rumour mill is already in full circle with the club linked with numerous players including Blackpool's DJ Campbell. Campbell is thought to be available for a knock-down price in the wake of the club's relegation, although Bruce is also keeping an eye out for potential free signings.

Situation

"Every club will be looking at the Bosman situation, of course, so we will be looking at that," said Bruce. "Usually in my experience of the Bosman situation, they usually want to be fixed up early, so there might be a bit of movement there. "But the transfer merry-go-round is usually kick-started by the big ones. "The big ones swing into action and then that usually opens the door for a few others to see what they are doing with their players."
