Peter Crouch hopes England can qualify with style for next summer's Euro finals as the Three Lions prepare to take on Switzerland.
Fabio Capello's side sit top of Group G heading into the Euro 2012 qualifier at Wembley on Saturday.
Crouch hopes they can get the win and then qualify in style for the tournament, just as they did for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.
The striker, who has scored 22 goals in 42 appearances for the Three Lions, told the Daily Star Sunday: "What it is all about this year is qualifying for the European Championship.
"When it comes to those competitive games, it isn't necessarily about the performance - what we want to do is get results and qualify for the finals.
"Hopefully, we can get the results in the same way we did to qualify for the World Cup in South Africa.
"We got there in style and hopefully we can do something similar this time around. The big tournaments are where we need to be."
On a club level, Crouch scored seven times as Tottenham made it into the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, including against AC Milan in the San Siro which he ranks as the best goal of his career.
He said: "In terms of where it ranks in my career, it has got to be right up there.
"I've scored in some great games before - and I think scoring for England, particularly at a World Cup, takes some beating.
"But the Champions League is so special, too. The games away from home in that competition can be so difficult.
"So getting the goal that proved to be the one that took us through to the next round meant so much.
"I'd probably have to say it was the best goal of my career, in terms of importance and what it meant.
"The Champions League is such an exciting competition and from a goal-scoring perspective, it seemed to bring out the best in me.
"You dream of playing in the World Cup for England and playing against the best club sides in the world and I am very lucky to have had those opportunities."
