Hammers striker ready to fight for promotion next season

Young striker Freddie Sears has pledged his future to West Ham despite their slide into the Championship. Sears spent the first half of last season on loan at Scunthorpe before battling his way back into the Hammers first team for the tail end of their ill-fated campaign. The East Londoners finished bottom of the Premier League to seal their relegation to the second tier, and not all their key players are guaranteed to remain at Upton Park this summer. But 21-year-old Sears says he intends to take on the Championship with the Hammers as they look to bounce back into the top-flight at the first time of asking. The England Under-21 international told The Sun: "As a West Ham fan, I want to stay and play for the club. "Hopefully we can keep a good core of players together here and have a real go next season."
