Centre-back undergoing strengthening work in bid for full fitness

Daniel Agger believes he has a lot more to offer Liverpool as he continues on his latest path towards full fitness. The centre-back played his last match of the season in the 2-1 defeat at West Brom on 2nd April after sustaining a knee injury in the loss at The Hawthorns. Agger damaged a tendon and was set a two-month rehabilitation period of muscle strengthening to add to an injury and illness-ravaged campaign which saw him make just 21 appearances. The Denmark international insists he is as frustrated as anyone at the most recent fitness setback, but he believes he can come back stronger than before. Agger told Liverpool's official website: "The toughest part of being injured is trying to stay positive.

Future

"It is nothing compared to being on the pitch at Anfield - being outside is a lot worse and a lot harder. "I appreciate playing football more. I really, really enjoy playing now. "I have always enjoyed football, but you appreciate it more when you have been out injured so much. You just enjoy every little minute on the pitch, both in training and in games. "The memory of the games I've played and thoughts of the future are what have kept me going. "I know I have a lot more to give to this club if I can keep fit."
