Gers boss aims to retain Algerian defender along with trio

Ally McCoist has refused to give up hope of keeping Madjid Bougherra at Rangers. The 28-year-old centre-back is entering the last year of his contract and has expressed his desire to quit the Scottish champions after three years at Ibrox. The Algeria international was hoping to earn a move south to play in the Premier League but McCoist is still trying to convince the former Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday defender to extend his stay with the Old Firm outfit. The new Gers boss is also hopeful that Allan McGregor, Steven Davis and Steven Whittaker will commit to new deals. "On the contract front, I have spoken to a few of the boys and the feedback on the talks has been positive," he told the Scottish Daily Express. "Hopefully we can get all the boys signed up on new contracts, including Madjid. "He is a player I definitely want to keep at the club."
