Rangers poised to land Israel striker on a free

Rangers' new manager Ally McCoist says the club are closing in on the capture of Israel striker Tomer Hemed. The 24-year-old is out of contract at Maccabi Haifa and is available on a free transfer this summer. McCoist recently revealed talks were due to take place and he now hopes to have a deal finalised by the weekend. "It's close," he told The Sun. "We met and spoke with his representatives [yesterday]. "The new owner was present and we're now ready to take it further. We're looking to have something done by the end of the week."

Keen

McCoist is also a huge fan of Neil Danns and he remains committed to landing the Crystal Palace man, who is also a free agent. However, the Gers boss remains unsure if they can bring Carlos Cuellar back to the club with no one at the helm of Aston Villa. "As regards Neil, Andrew [Dickson, Rangers director of football administration] has spoken to his representative and we're keen, very keen," he continued. "That's one I am pursuing further as well. He's a player we are keen on." He added: "The situation at Aston Villa makes it difficult with regards to Carlos."
