Dons keeper likely to be back in actio by September

Aberdeen are expecting Jamie Langfield to return to their first-team fold for pre-season training. The Dons keeper suffered a health scare at the start of June when he suffered a seizure and has been forced to put his career on hold. He is, however, making positive progress in his return to full fitness and could be ready to join in with the rest of the squad when they report back from the summer break on 23rd June. Langfield will not be rushed back into action until the 2011/12 campaign is under way, but Aberdeen are delighted to see the 31-year-old doing so well.

Specialist

A statement released by the club on Thursday read: "Aberdeen Football Club is pleased to confirm that keeper Jamie Langfield had a positive consultation with his specialist yesterday as he continues to recover from a seizure suffered earlier this month. "Jamie will return to his specialist in a month for further routine checks and should then be given the green light to resume full training in September. "Everyone at the club wishes Jamie all the best with his recovery and look forward to him returning with the rest of the squad for pre-season training next Thursday." The former Dundee shot-stopper signed a one-year contract extension with Aberdeen in May.
