Didier Deschamps believes he is closing on a deal which will see Alou Diarra join Marseille at the second time of asking.
The Ligue 1 giants endeavoured to bring the Bordeaux midfielder on board last summer, only to be left frustrated in their efforts.
Diarra made it clear that he wanted to complete a switch, but no agreement could be struck between the two clubs.
Twelve months on, it appears as though a transfer could finally be pushed through, with Deschamps of the opinion that the France international is on his way to Stade Velodrome.
"I have no doubt about Diarra's potential," he told L'Equipe.
"I was a player and I know when you stay somewhere after deciding you want to leave, it is complex.
"I know his qualities and the role he can play here and for the French national team."
While Marseille are edging closer to securing Diarra's signature, Argentine playmaker Lucho Gonzalez could soon be on his way out of the club.
Deschamps has revealed that discussions regarding the South American's future have been opened, with numerous clubs believed to be interested in the talented 30-year-old.
"There are talks," he said.
"We know what Lucho represents on sporting and economic levels. Whether he goes or not could influence other business."
