Defender Morgan Gould is undergoing a two-week trial at Crystal Palace in hope of earning a permanent move to the Championship club.
The South African centre-back, currently under contract at native side Supersport United, joined up with Dougie Freedman's squad in Exeter on Tuesday.
A transfer fee of £500,000 has reportedly already been agreed between the two clubs and 28-year-old Gould is determined to win a deal at Selhurst Park.
"I'm definitely very hopeful - coming here means a lot and now I want to show people what I am capable of," he told Sky Sports.
"Palace have shown a real interest in arranging for me to come over here for a trial so I'm just giving it my all and we will see what happens."
If Gould does earn a deal at Palace he will link up with South Africa team-mate Kagisho Dikgacoi, who was signed by Freedman permanently earlier this month following a successful loan spell.
Dikgacoi recommended Gould to the Eagles boss and the defender is relishing the prospect of regularly playing alongside his compatriot.
"It makes it easier for me to come here and see someone that I know very well already," said Gould.
"I feel happy and think it would make things a lot easier if everything works out with the trial. It would be great to play alongside him every week.
He added: "I didn't really know what to expect when I arrived on Tuesday but I am just giving it my all.
"Hopefully there will be a positive decision soon and I can stay a lot longer than just two weeks."
