New Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish says the slate has been 'wiped clean' for Stephen Warnock, with the full-back part of his plans.
The former Liverpool defender found himself frozen out of the first-team picture by Gerard Houllier last season.
A hugely frustrating campaign came on the back of selection in Fabio Capello's England squad for the 2010 World Cup.
Warnock was forced to train with the reserves and the youth team at times under Houllier, with his days at Villa Park seemingly numbered.
A change in the dugout over the summer has offered everybody a fresh start, however, and the 29-year-old is hoping to get his career back on track.
McLeish is prepared to give Warnock every opportunity to prove his worth, with all of those in Villa's senior squad in a position to challenge for a starting role.
He said: "Stephen's attitude has been phenomenal and that's what I expect of top pros playing at a top level.
"He's trained really well. He played for England not so long ago and I think he's a terrific player.
"I need to see if he can be part of the future here.
"He has come back in and for me has staked his claim with his attitude alone."
