Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has revealed his frustration with Yohan Cabaye missing the club's pre-season tour of America.
The 25-year-old French midfielder was refused access to the US because of a minor technical issue, becoming the third Magpies player to be turned down for an entry visa.
That issue has since been resolved, but not soon enough for a fresh application to be processed, so Cabaye will join Joey Barton and Nile Ranger in Peter Beardsley's development squad, which heads for Holland on Wednesday.
Pardew told the Evening Chronicle: "We have already had word back that he will eventually get a visa, but it doesn't help us, because we need it now. It's a three-week process.
"It's one of those situations, but for us, it became very frustrating.
"There was no talking them around, and unfortunately the process was too long for us to rectify it."
Cabaye will go through his paces in the second-string squad which faces Hollandia, FC Utrecht and Almere City, rather than playing alongside his new senior team-mates against Sporting Kansas City and then Orlando City and Columbus Crew.
