Blades defender expected to sign new contract at Bramall Lane

Sheffield United manager Danny Wilson is delighted promising defender Matty Lowton is ready to sign a new contract at Bramall Lane. Lowton has been linked with a move away from the Blades following the club's relegation from the Championship at the end of last season. Premier League duo Blackburn Rovers and West Bromwich Albion are reportedly interested in the 22-year-old, while Ipswich Town and Leicester City are also rumoured to be admirers. However, Lowton is set to sign a fresh deal in South Yorkshire and Wilson is pleased he will be keeping another one of the club's rising talents. "We don't want our up-and-coming lads getting poached," said Wilson. "Being realistic, you are never going to be able to keep hold of them all, but we don't want to become known as a selling club. "Where possible we want our talented young players to grow and develop with us - that's why I am delighted with what has happened with Matty."
