Swans ace backs decision to move clubs seven years ago

Swansea City face Premier League opposition for the first time but for one Swan it is a sweet return to top flight football. Leon Britton was a West Ham player eight years ago when he made the tough decision to drop four leagues to Welsh outfit. If Britton plays against Manchester City on Monday night he will have played in all four divisions after gaining three promotions with the Swans.

Shock

"It was a culture shock, leaving West Ham to join Swansea as a youngster, but this all proves I made the right decision," explained the midfielder. "I didn't know where Swansea was, but I wanted to play football rather than twiddling my thumbs in the reserves. "It will be strange playing at the same level as the likes of Jermain Defoe, Glen Johnson, Rio (Ferdinand) and Frank (Lampard). "I don't think they will even remember me."
