Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is pleased with their performance against Newcastle United on Saturday despite failing to register a win.
Debutant Gervinho was sent off in the second-half at St James' Park following a spat with Joey Barton as Arsene Wenger's side opened their 2011-12 Premier League campaign with a goalless draw.
However, Ramsey, who performed admirably against the Magpies, believes that there are a number of reasons to rejoice with the one point the Gunners gained away from home.
"I thought we performed well, defended well and looked solid from set-pieces," the 20-year-old Arsenal's official website. "We created chances as well but just didn't take those opportunities.
"All in all, we are very pleased with our performance today (Saturday). Especially when we went down to ten men, it was good to get a point out of the game in the end.
"The players adapted well to going down to ten men and we even created one or two chances at the end. We are pleased with the result."
Arsenal are back in action on Tuesday as they host Italian side Udinese in the first-leg of their Champions League play-off tie.
