Norwich City manager Paul Lambert has ruled out appealing against the red card handed to Leon Barnett against Stoke City in the Premier League on Sunday.
The defender was sent off for a professional foul when he brought down Jon Walters on 63 minutes in their 1-1 draw at Carrow Road.
The referee awarded a spot-kick that was subsequently saved by John Ruddy, although television replays suggested that the foul was committed outside Norwich's penalty area.
The sending off means that Barnett will sit out the Canaries' Carling Cup tie against MK Dons on Tuesday, but boss Lambert has decided against launching an appeal in case it jeopardises the 25-year-old's chances of playing against Chelsea at the weekend.
"No I don't think we would win it (the appeal) so I will just take the consequences of it," said Lambert in
The Pink 'un. "If it's a one-game ban then he will miss tomorrow."
Changes
Lambert also said that he will make changes to his team for Tuesday evening's clash.
"There will be changes - there's no doubt that we can't turn it around that quick," he reasoned.
"The lads that played yesterday had a hard, hard game so the squad is big enough to change it around and that's what I'll do.
"I'll decide later on today but whatever team I go with will be strong."
