Danny Simpson has sought to play down speculation suggesting he could be the next high-profile departure from Newcastle.
The full-back has been linked with a move to Queens Park Rangers, with Sky Sports sources reporting last week that Neil Warnock was keen on the Magpies defender.
The 24-year-old has seen his future called into question after rumours emerged regarding contract talks with Newcastle.
It is claimed that discussions regarding an extension have broken down, suggesting Simpson is prepared to listen to offers from elsewhere.
The former Manchester United man insists that is not the case, though, with it his intention to stick around at St James' Park.
Simpson told the
Evening Chronicle: "I'm a Newcastle player with a contract for another two years.
"I enjoyed last season and I'm settled here with my family and happy playing games for a massive club."
Spirit
Newcastle have already seen Kevin Nolan and Jose Enrique head for the exits this summer, while Joey Barton is closing on a move to QPR.
Alan Pardew's men continue to generate performances on the field though, taking four points from their opening two Premier League fixtures, and Simpson insists confidence remains high within the camp.
He added: "A big part of us is our team spirit. I know we have lost some players, but life goes on.
"The new lads that have come in have taken on the team spirit, and the performances showed how together and strong we are.
"We have got a lot of confidence now and we are all looking forward to the cup game (against Scunthorpe) and Fulham (on Sunday)."
