Arsenal newcomer Gervinho has admitted he was disappointed to see Samir Nasri leave the club, especially after promising to stay.
Gervinho is the biggest name to have arrived at Emirates Stadium this summer after arriving from Lille.
But the Gunners squad has since been decimated by the departures of star duo Nasri and Cesc Fabregas, to Manchester City and Barcelona respectively.
Gervinho was stunned by Nasri's move after speaking to the Frenchman and receiving assurances that he would not be going anywhere.
"I wanted to play with Samir because he is a big player. His exit has left me in pain," said the Ivory Coast international.
"He promised to be there this season - and then changed his mind.
"This is a different Arsenal. A new team without Nasri and Cesc. But we need to forget that and to turn the page.
"Now we must think only about the future."
While he had relished the prospect of playing alongside Nasri and Fabregas, Gervinho respects their right to leave and hopes to link up with them again at some point in the future.
"I would have liked to have played with Cesc and Samir," he told RMC.
"I like to play with great players and it's a shame.
"They left to join big clubs to try their luck elsewhere.
"One day I hope to have the opportunity to play with them again."
