Inter Milan have signed midfielder Andrea Poli from Sampdoria on a season-long loan deal with the option to make it permanent thereafter. The Nerazzurri made the announcement on Monday and explained that the 21-year-old will be given a four-year contract next summer should they decide to recruit him permanently from the Genoese club. "Andrea Poli has signed for Inter," read a statement on the club's official website. "The midfielder, who was born in 1989 and is one of the most significant players to have emerged in Italian football in recent years (with 36 appearances for his country at Under-17 and Under-21 levels), has officially joined the Nerazzurri squad. "The loan agreement, with an option to buy outright, with U.C. Sampdoria has just been signed and the player's contract will run until 30 June 2016 (should the rights be acquired)."

An honour to play for Inter

Poli, who is rated as one of the better young players in Italy, is delighted to have made the move from the Serie B team and says that playing for Inter "is an honour". "I really am very happy," the Italian enthused. "It's a great honour for me to wear this shirt and I'll do everything in my power to deserve it. This is a fantastic opportunity for me. "There are terrific players here at Inter and I'll be trying to learn as much as I can from them. I can't wait to get down to work and I'll do so with determination and give it everything I've got."
