Roma skipper issues call to rally around new boss

Roma captain Francesco Totti has set his sights on a successful season for the club and urged everyone to get behind new boss Luis Enrique. Enrique took charge at the Stadio Olimpico earlier in the summer, inheriting a team that had just endured a disappointing campaign and finished sixth in Serie A. The new domestic season may not start until this weekend following a player strike that led to the postponement of the opening round of fixtures, but Enrique has already come under pressure after Roma lost to Slovan Bratislava in the play-off round for the Europa League. Totti has now tried to lift spirits ahead of Sunday's home game against Cagliari, telling his team-mates to back Enrique.

Together

"We must rally around the new coach," Totti wrote on his blog. "We'll do it together and with one goal, Roma, of which I am just the biggest fan. "This year I hope, as always, presents the fans with great satisfaction. "We wait for the stadium to support us as you always do, and I am sure we will make you rejoice."
