Millers boss and Daggers defender claim monthly awards

Rotherham United manager Andy Scott has won August's Manager of the Month award while veteran defender Mark Arber has scooped the Player prize. Scott guided the Millers to the summit of the League Two table at the end of August and he beat off competition from the likes of Jim Bentley from Morecambe, Crawley boss Steve Evans and Shrewsbury's Graham Turner. During the opening month of the season Rotherham won four and drew one of their five league outings giving them an impressive haul of 13 points from a possible 15. "This is a personal accolade but really it is for the club as a whole," Scott told the club's official website.

Positive

"It is not just for the players and the staff but for the fans as well. We deserve this award, there has been a lot going on here over the past four months, everyone has been positive about it and wanted to make changes, and hopefully this is the first award of many." Arber takes credit for a Dagenham defence that conceded just three league goals from their fixtures in August. The 33-year-old South African stopper becomes the first Daggers player to claim the accolade since Solomon Taiwo back in 2008.
