Mexican keeper will leave Ajaccio for a more prestigious side

Guillermo Ochoa has reiterated that he sees his time at Ajaccio as a stepping stone to bigger and better things. The Mexican goalkeeper secured a move to France over the summer, becoming the first shot-stopper from his country to try their luck in European football. The 26-year-old had been setting his sights slightly higher than a newly-promoted outfit in Ligue 1, but a failed drugs test saw a number of clubs withdraw their interest. Ochoa is, however, confident that his name will soon be cleared and that he can fulfil his ambition of playing for a top club in the not too distant future. "Before the drugs test, I had offers from much bigger clubs," he told France Football. "Ajaccio was not my top target. But when the other clubs gave up, my agent just repeated 'Ajaccio, Ajaccio'.

"As I wanted to discover one of the top leagues in Europe, I accepted. "After the drugs test, I feared there would be no more offers. I can understand the position of the clubs. But I know it was an accident and that I am not guilty. "I appreciate that I have joined a promoted that is targeting survival, but it is clear that this is a stepping stone to other things and as soon as I get the chance to move on, I will leave. "I am here because it is my ambition to play for a big team as soon as possible. Maybe in one or two years, we will see. "I don't earn as much now as I did in Mexico, but that doesn't prevent me from being happy. I am proud to be the first Mexican keeper to play in Europe and money isn't everything. "I have no regrets. On the contrary, since I came here I have felt much calmer and happier."
