Tom Cairney believes Hull City are now in a position to start pushing towards the top of the table following back-to-back victories in the Championship.
The Tigers suffered three defeats in their opening four games but, with recent wins over Reading and Peterborough, Nigel Pearson's side are looking for a third straight success against Portsmouth this weekend.
And 20-year-old midfielder Cairney insists Hull, sitting a comfortable ninth in the table, can maintain their current run of form after a disappointing start.
Cairney said: "Now that we've broken our duck at home I think a few more will come. If we can get the first goal in a game, especially at home, it would help us settle.
"We dominated play in the Palace game and if we'd have scored early we'd have gone on and got a few. It's a crazy league. Any side can beat any other if they're on their game on the day.
"The object of the season is to go for promotion so we have to stay in and around the top half.
"If we can manage that and get ourselves on a good run at some stage, you can really push on for the top of the league."
