Ryan injury blow for Iron

Scunthorpe midfielder Jimmy Ryan will be out for up to four weeks with the knee injury he sustained during the 2-2 draw with Walsall.

Ryan stepped off the bench to score an injury-time equaliser at the Banks's Stadium, but later damaged his medial ligament. "I was delighted for Jimmy when the ball hit the back of the net, but then a few moments later incredibly disappointed when he got hurt," manager Alan Knill told the club's official website. "He's a top player who we have all seen brings a lot to the team. It's looking like he'll be out for four weeks." Meanwhile, striker Matt Godden will miss the remainder of 2011 through injury. Godden went to see a specialist last week in an attempt to rectify what has been an injury-plagued start to the season. Knill added: "He has got a hip problem and a hernia. He fell over in the warm-up for the Newcastle match and hasn't been the same since. It's looking like January before we can even think about him being available."
