Gareth McAuley is determined to establish himself in the West Bromwich Albion team after making his Premier League debut against Fulham.
The Northern Ireland international joined the Baggies on a three-year contract from Ipswich Town in the summer and has had to bide his time for a chance in the top flight.
He started Saturday's 0-0 home draw with Fulham and is now looking to make his mark in Roy Hodgson's side for the remainder of the season.
"It's what you work for and it's what all the sweat and hard work in the gym is for, to get a chance to play in the best league in the world," the 31-year-old told the club's official website.
"It's fantastic and hopefully I can go on now and try to establish myself in the team here, and do well for West Brom.
"It was a nice experience. It's taken a long time and I have dreamed of it. When you set out, that's what you want to do, to play at the top level.
"It's been tough getting here, but I enjoyed every minute of it. I have seen a lot of good players through international football, and a lot of the difference between the Championship and the Premier League is the speed of thought and the movement of the players."
