Defender aims to use Burnley loan to boost City prospects

Ben Mee is hoping his performances during his loan spell at Burnley this season will earn him a chance back at parent club Manchester City next year. The 22-year-old has made eight appearances for the Clarets since joining on a season-long loan from big-spending City over the summer. The highly-rated defender made his City debut in last season's Carling Cup and, while keen to eventually make his mark at the Etihad Stadium, he insists he remains fully focused on doing his best for Burnley. "It would be great to get a few first-team games back at Manchester City, but I'm just looking to do well here at Burnley for now," Mee told skysports.com. "Whatever happens back at City will happen in due course and I can't do anything about that at the moment. "We will have to see what happens next year because obviously there is a wealth of talent there and it is going to be difficult for any youngster to break into the first team there. "That is my long-term goal, but whether it will happen remains to be seen for another year at least."
