Aston Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor is set to feature in Saturday's clash with Manchester City following his recovery from a minor back problem but Nathan Delfouneso has been ruled out.
Agbonlahor was unavailable for England's Euro 2012 qualifier with Montenegro after sustaining a back injury in Villa's 2-0 win over Wigan on 1st October.
Manager Alex McLeish has confirmed the striker has resumed training in preparation for the team's trip to the Etihad Stadium.
Meanwhile, Delfouneso could miss the next two Premier League games with a hamstring tear that saw him substituted in England Under 21s' victory over Iceland last Thursday.
McLeish told the club's official website: "Gabby has trained this week and as long as nothing interrupts his training schedule on Thursday and Friday he should be fine for City.
"I am disappointed for Nathan as I think his hamstring prevented him playing the rest of the game.
"Also it has maybe cost him a couple of games here. I don't think it is too bad but sometimes sprinters get these injuries more than others.
"He has got to do a bit of preventative work in the gym but I'm sure Adrian Lamb will help him attain stronger hamstrings that enable him to make his bursts from start to finish in games."
Elsewhere, Wales international James Collins was unable to play in qualifiers with Switzerland and Bulgaria with a foot injury and is battling to be fit in time for this weekend's game.
McLeish added: "James Collins missed the Wales games and he has trained this week.
"Now we are just waiting on the internationals to come back - Alan Hutton and Barry Bannan as well as Irish lads Shay Given and Richard Dunne."
