Left-back sidelined after suffering broken metatarsal
PSV Eindhoven have suffered a blow with the news key defender Erik Pieters has sustained a foot injury and will spend a spell on the sidelines.
The Dutch left-back damaged his foot during PSV's 1-0 victory over FC Utrecht in the Eredivisie on Saturday and had to be substituted after 30 minutes.
Pieters was taken to hospital, where scans revealed he has suffered a fractured metatarsal.
The 23-year-old does not yet know how serious the injury is, telling Voetbal International: "I think I will have to wear a cast for one or two weeks.
"First I've got to wait until the swelling goes down. Then I'll have a scan and we'll know more."
Pieters is a first-team regular for PSV, who currently sit second in the league table behind AZ Alkmaar with 20 points from nine games.
