Vitesse Arnhem manager John van den Brom has expressed his anger at young winger Giorgi Chanturia following his red card in Sunday's Gelderland derby.
The 18-year-old Georgian scored the only goal in the clash against local rivals NEC Nijmegen to fire Vitesse to victory.
But his performance was marred by his sending off in the 57th minute after an altercation with NEC's Kevin Conboy, who was also dismissed by referee Reinold Wiedemeijer.
Van den Brom says he warned Chanturia ahead of the derby game that emotions would be running high.
And the boss was disappointed to see the youngster, who broke into the Vitesse first-team at the beginning of this season, let his temper get the better of him.
"I'm angry at Gio," Van den Brom told NUSport. "Given the work we put in, he did not have to get himself into that situation.
"Gio's weakness is his emotion. We told him in advance to keep his emotions in check.
"I'm angry because of Gio but the referee has given his reasons for the punishment. All you can discuss is whether it was too severe."
