Young striker believes that Arsenal can still succeed this season

Arsenal's 19-year-old striker Benik Afobe has warned people not to write the Gunners off despite their slow start to the season. Arsene Wenger's side are 10th in the Premier League after eight games having lost more matches than they have won this season. But Sunday's 2-1 win over Sunderland has given Arsenal another platform to build from after their setback at local rivals Tottenham in their previous game. Afobe is still working behind the scenes to earn his debut for the first-team after spending a successful loan spell at League One side Huddersfield last season. But, as a spectator, he has been impressed by his team-mates this term and even believes they have what it takes to win the title.

Not finished yet

He told skysports.com: "We've seen in the past that other good sides, like Manchester United, have had poor starts to the season and still managed to turn things round and become champions, so we aren't finished yet. "It is still early days and everyone remains confident that we can start putting consistent performances and wins together soon. "We just need to stay strong mentally and keep believing that things will go our way eventually. "Obviously, we want to prove the critics wrong, but I don't think it is about proving people wrong, as it is more important to prove to ourselves that we can do it. "The luck will change soon and if we can put together a good run then I'm sure that people will start rating us again rather than writing us off."
