Davis spot-kick delights Gradi

Crewe boss Dario Gradi praised young Harry Davis for scoring the penalty that gave his side a 1-0 victory and ended Cheltenham's winning run.

Davis, son of assistant manager Steve Davis, scored the goal that separated the teams in the 54th minute of Tuesday's League Two clash at Whaddon Road, after Sido Jombati tripped Luke Murphy inside the area. "I could only recall Harry missing once when we practised penalties. He tucks them away well and he'd earned the opportunity," Gradi said. "I have to live and die by that sort of decision so we are delighted it paid off. We had chances to finish it off and could easily have ended up 4-0 winners. "Having said that we could also have lost it because they went close at the end. The penalty was a yes, no or maybe but if they give the referee a chance to make the decision, they can't moan about it."
