Goalkeeper wants to be playing in the Champions League

Tim Wiese wants to see signs of Werder Bremen's ambition before he agrees to a new contract and will make a decision on his future before Christmas. The 29-year-old goalkeeper will be a free agent at the end of the season, as will Bremen team-mates Claudio Pizarro and Clemens Fritz, and there have been mixed messages regarding his future for several months. Bremen at first said Wiese would not be offered an extended deal, while the Germany international has himself previously insisted he wants to stay. But the former Kaiserslautern youngster now wants to witness Bremen's intention to compete in the UEFA Champions League and plans to bring in new players before committing his future.

Talk

The shot-stopper told Sport-BILD weekly: "I want to be among the top of the table with Werder Bremen in the long run and play in the Champions League. "It is important that key players like Claudio Pizarro and Clemens Fritz, who are also on deals which expire at the end of this season, also remain at the club. "In addition to this, we have to see good players arrive at the club. I am not going to wait until the end of the season with my decision. "I think we are to talk to each other before Christmas. My wife and I enjoy living in Bremen." Wiese added: "Should there be no future for me at Werder Bremen, my agent will certainly bring me a top club instead. I have been a goalkeeper at the highest level for seven years now."
