Republic Of Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given believes his country have a great chance of qualifying for next summer's Euro 2012 finals.
Giovanni Trapattoni's men face Estonia in a two legged play-off to decide who will make the finals in Poland and the Ukraine after finishing second in their qualifying group.
Ireland have not qualified for the European Championships since 1988 and the tie against Estonia - the weakest side they could have played in the play-off draw - gives them a real opportunity to alter that statistic.
Aston Villa goalkeeper Given, who has 118 caps, admits it would be a 'fantastic' achievement if they qualified but refused to be drawn on whether the tournament would provide the curtain call to his long international career.
"It's a big two games home and away next month and we've got a real, real chance of qualification. We've got a very good squad with Ireland now and a real possibility to get to Poland and Ukraine next summer," said the 35-year-old.
"That would be fantastic if we could get back there (to the finals of a European Championship).
"I'm not in it to make loads of caps. I'm in it to try to do well for my country and give something to them.
"If I'm good enough to play then I should play and if I'm not then it's time for me to step aside and someone else to come in and play.
"I'll make that decision when the time is right."
