Adlene Guedioura is confident the Wolves fans will show their support for manager Mick McCarthy and his side in their crucial clash with Wigan on Sunday.
McCarthy hit the headlines in midweek when he described some supporters as 'mindless idiots' for their criticism during the recent 2-2 home draw with Swansea.
Since then, the Black Country club have suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of Manchester City, crashing out of the Carling Cup 5-2 at Molineux before going down 3-1 to their 10-man hosts at the Etihad Stadium.
Wolves are back on home turf for their vital encounter with fellow strugglers Wigan, when they will look to improve on a run of just one point from six games against a side who have lost seven in a row.
And midfielder Guedioura believes the Molineux faithful will give the manager and players their full backing against Roberto Martinez's struggling Latics.
He told the club's official website: "I am sure the fans will be behind us. I know they are unhappy sometimes - I am a football fan too and I know there are times when you are not happy.
"But I think they are behind the gaffer and the club and hopefully we can be together and win against Wigan."
Need to win
The Algerian was keen to take the positives from their weekend reverse at the hands of Roberto Mancini's league leaders and admitted their clash with the Latics was now a must-win encounter.
He added: "We did lose but I think there were some good performances and we showed some good things.
"We did our best in there but Man City were better than us in taking their chances.
"Hopefully we can take the positives from this into the Wigan game next week. Maybe we will need to be better next weekend.
"We need to play well but the main thing is we need to win."
