Sebastien Bassong is confident Tottenham Hotspur can still qualify for the knockout phase of the Europa League following the 1-0 defeat by Rubin Kazan.
Tottenham headed to Russia knowing that victory over Rubin on Thursday evening would have clinched a spot in the last 32 of the competition.
However, Bebras Natcho's second-half free-kick earned Rubin a 1-0 win and saw Spurs drop to third in Group A behind the Russians and table-toppers PAOK Salonika.
Harry Redknapp's side entertain PAOK in their next game at the end of the month before finishing the group away to Shamrock Rovers and Bassong is upbeat about the prospects of progressing.
"We can still finish top of the group. There are two games left. We'll get the chance to put things right," said Bassong.
"We've got a strong squad and quality players so there is no reason why we can't finish first or second."
Bassong was at fault for the goal after he fouled Alexander Ryazantsev to concede the free-kick from which Natcho scored after he had lost control of the ball when trying to dribble out of his own box.
The former Newcastle man was apologetic after the match, saying: "What can I say? I told the lads: 'Sorry, I should have cleared it'.
"It's simple. I should have cleared the ball and I took an extra touch, an extra bad touch. I didn't see him coming and when I found out it was too late because I had a bad touch.
"I was praying it wouldn't be a goal but it was."
