Pozuelo wants to become local hero

Alejandro Pozuelo has no intention of leaving Real Betis after being linked to both Manchester United and Barcelona and instead wants to become a hero for Real Betis. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has attracted reported interest from several major clubs around Europe. But he is adamant that he is not interested in leaving his boyhood idols. "These are things that people talk about and that come out in the press, but I do not read any of it," Pozuelo explained. "All I want is to continue to play for Betis, that is my main desire and I do not think about going anywhere else. "The only thing I want now is to succeed at Betis, because they have been my team since I was very young, and to play in the Benito Villamarin . Nothing more."

Manchester United and Barcelona showing an interest has pleased the rising star, but Pozuelo wants to become a first-team regular having been promoted from the B team at Betis this season. "Of course it is flattering, but I have always been a Betis supporter and I just want to stay here and become a great player for Betis," he continued. "I would prefer to become an idol here where I am from, in Seville with Betis because that is the team that I love. "To do this I have spent a long time fighting my way up on dirt pitches in grounds with no lights. All I ever wanted was to play for Betis." Real Betis moved recently to ward off any interest as they agreed a new deal with Pozuelo for two years, with the option of two further years, and a buy-out clause that will rise from €5million to €20million depending upon appearances. "Yes, that is the deal, but these things do not worry me. They are dealt with by my father and my agent," the player explained. "There were days when things were very bad for my family and myself because of this, but luckily it is now sorted out and now I feel happy."
