Roy Hodgson has said it is unlikely that three of his key injured players will return for the Premier League clash with Bolton on Saturday.
The West Brom manager's injury list includes Peter Odemwingie and Paul Scharner with the knee injuries that kept them out of the 3-0 defeat at Arsenal 11 days ago while Shane Long has been ruled out for four to six weeks.
The Midlands side are boosted by Graham Dorrans' return to training following an ankle knock but the trio remain a problem for the Baggies who currently sit 14th in the table.
Former Liverpool manager Hodgson says the players are on the road to recovery but it is too early to know if they will be ready for Saturday's clash.
"It is not impossible but they are all still long shots," Hodgson told the club's official website.
"In particular Scharner who funnily enough is the least likely to make it. We're just taking it day by day at the moment and they're working hard."
The players can take advantage of the club's new hydropool which aids recovery and Hodgson will wait until Thursday before making a decision on their selection.
He added: "If they are to play on Saturday they need to be back training with us tomorrow."
