City boss plays down transfer talk

Roberto Mancini has attempted to play down speculation linking him with Europe's top frontmen by claiming his is happy with his current strike force. With Carlos Tevez having no part to play in Manchester City's future, the Blues have found themselves short of options up front. They do still have Sergio Aguero, Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko at their disposal, but they were expected to try and bolster those ranks in January. A move for Napoli's Edinson Cavani has been widely touted, with the Uruguayan having underlined his quality with a brace against City in the UEFA Champions League.

Options

Both City and the player have attempted to quash those rumours, though, and Mancini is adamant that he has no plans to dip into the New Year transfer market. "I have three strikers and that is enough," said the Italian. "We also have three or four other players who can play as a second striker. "I think Cavani and (Ezequiel) Lavazzi are strong players but they play for Napoli in this moment and I don't know what can happen in the future."
