Everton defender Leighton Baines concedes that he is unlikely to be England's first-choice left-back at next summer's European Championship.
Baines is a strong contender to be part of head coach Fabio Capello's squad which travels to Poland and Ukraine, although competition to start is fierce.
The former Wigan defender has a mammoth task in displacing Ashley Cole in the Italian's line-up as he has just six caps to his name compared to the Chelsea man's 93.
Baines has been happy with his recent form, however, he knows that dislodging Cole in England's starting XI is easier said than done.
"I'm not sure I'll go into the Euros as first choice," said Baines.
"My form was good last season and the season before but Ashley Cole is still the number one left-back.
"All I know is that it will be hard to dislodge him."
