Montpellier captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa says he would love to play in the Premier League one day amid reports the defender has caught the eye of Newcastle United.
The 22-year-old has led La Paillade to the top of France's Ligue 1 and admits he could leave Montpellier in the summer regardless of whether his team secure Champions League football for next season.
Reports have suggested that Newcastle would need to pay in the region of £5million to bring Yanga-Mbiwa to St James' Park.
"If we play Champions League next term, could I stay? Why not? But I believe I would not reach the level that I want to reach if I stay with Montpellier," Yanga-Mbiwa told French newspaper L'Equipe.
"By leaving I would be forced to question myself. I would like to question my own limits.
"I believe the English Premier League is wonderful, but nothing has been decided so far."
Yanga-Mbiwa - who was born in the Central African Republic, but has French citizenship - also spoke of his desire to break into the Les Bleus senior side having represented France at Under 21 level.
"Les Bleus? It would be a logical continuation. If I can't it would be a failure and it would be time for me to think about the Central African Republic team."
