Blackburn boss Steve Kean was pleased with his side's performance as they overcame Swansea 4-2 at Ewood Park, with special praise reserved for four-goal hero Yakubu.
The striker set Rovers on their way to a priceless win with a 20th-minute opener and finished the job from the penalty spot eight minutes from time before departing to a standing ovation.
But despite a win which lifted Rovers off the bottom of the Premier League table, Kean still felt the ire of some home fans who continued to chant for his dismissal.
He told Sky Sports: "I think the performance was excellent. I'm a big admirer of the way Swansea play.
"We felt that if we could keep them in front of us for most of the game, which I think we did. If you actually look at the game, just opportunities without possession, I think we've honestly shaded that in the chances.
"And then you get Yakubu and he can score any type of goal. He can score headers, he can score tap-ins, he can score goals like he scored the first goal.
"I think he's performed fantastically well today but I think a striker's only as good as his service and the service today was excellent."
Yakubu became the first Rovers player to score four goals in a Premier League game and Kean wasn't surprised by the stat, saying: "It tells you he's prolific. I think it's the type of goals.
"Sometimes you get a striker who's predominantly good in the air, but he can score everything.
"You look at the goals he scored against Arsenal with his little tap-ins. But I thought his first goal today was excellent and he's led the line very well."
With the safety gap down to just a point at the bottom of the table, Kean was even more pleased with the result, adding: "I set a target for the lads to go and get a run together and we feel as though we've taken the first step."
