Forward set for surgery on foot injury

Malaga's Julio Baptista is set for a further two months on the sidelines after it was revealed he requires surgery on a foot injury. The former Sevilla and Real Madrid forward sustained the injury against Getafe on October 1 but was only expected to be out for a few weeks. However, the injury has failed to heal despite being put through intensive recovery sessions in an attempt to avoid surgery. Further investigations revealed that an operation was needed to remove a fragment of bone from his right foot, with two months the estimated recovery time. The 30-year-old has been an inspirational figure for the Primera Liga outfit this season, with the club winning three and drawing one of the four appearances he has made so far this campaign.
