Paddy Mad keen to stay fit

Carlisle's Paddy Madden wants to put his injury nightmare behind him by helping the club stay on course for the play-offs.

The 21-year-old, signed for an undisclosed fee from Irish League side Bohemians in January this year, broke a bone in his foot on the eve of the current campaign and made his first appearance of the season as a substitute in last weekend's FA Cup defeat at Charlton. Madden told the club's official website: "It's been a really frustrating few months for me, but it was great to get out there and playing again. "Getting that injury in pre-season has probably been the worst thing to happen to me in my career so far. I felt like I was in good shape and with the season only five days away, it was a big setback for me." He added: "Going out of the cup was a disappointment, but we've got to put that behind us quickly. We're sitting in a nice position right now, but we want to be in those top six places come the end of the season and I'm confident there's enough ability in the squad to do that."
